Magellan is pleased to announce our first Italian beer brand, Birrificio Montelupo.  The brewery is located in the village of Montelupo in the Tuscan countryside.  The brewery is part of a growing movement of craft brewers in Italy, which is the epicenter in Europe for in new microbreweries.  Until recently, Italy was not known as a beer culture.  Hence, the Italian brewers are young, creative, and experimental in their approach to brewing.  They are not constrained by local methods or traditions.  Birrificio Montelupo is part of this new generation of craft brewers.  Montelupo produces Belgium and English style ales.  The Montelupo beers have whimsical, fun labels that feature a wolf, which is the symbol for the village of Montelupo. The name of the village means wolf mountain in Italian.
