The winery "Balthasar Ress" located in the municipality Eltville in the German wine-growing region Rheingau . In 1870 Balthasar Ress founded a business enterprise with its own restaurant and wine in the community Hattenheim (now part of Eltville). Today the company is run by fourth and fifth generations Stefan Ress and his son Christian. The vineyards cover 35 hectares in the Rheingau: Roseneck Mountain, Rottland Mountain, Berg Schlossberg (Rüdesheim), Engelmann Mountain, Hassel, Nussbrunnen, Schützenhaus (Hattenheim), and Hell Mountain (Assmannshausen). The vast majority of the vineyards are planted with Riesling (31.5 ha) and Pinot Noir and other varieties. In 1989, the winery became a member of the VDP. In 1993, Stefan Ress was selected president of the regional organization, VDP-Rheingau.
