Josef Drathen - Zell on the Mosel, Germany

    • Founded in 1860, Josef Drathen Wein und Sektkellerei is one of the largest producers of value wines and premium sparkling wine in Germany.
    • Magellan imports two different Dornfelders from Josef Drathen. Dornfelder is a German red grape that is a crossing of two other German red varietals: Helfensteiner and Heroldrebe. Dornfelder produces a particularly dark colored red wine. Originally, Dornfelder was developed as a blending grapeto provide more color to red wines. The grape has since become very popular as a single varietal wine on its own. Next to Pinot Noir, Dornfelder is the second most planted red grape in Germany.
